Adults Only
A Rumble on the Bay: Wine Tasting & Live Jazz on the Beach
with
Community Fundraiser - Live & Silent Auction
NEW DATE: Sunday, June 24
NEW TIME: 3 - 7 p.m.
In order to avoid conflict with Father's Day activities, the event has been rescheduled from June 17 to June 24. There are a few other changes too -- see below.
Yes, another great party by the AOTB Property Owners Association. It’s on the community beach!
Wine Tasting
Wine will be offered for tasting at no charge to adult community members by Mills Wine and Spirits. Their wine experts will guide party-goers through some of the best vintages for summer sipping. Wine will also be available for purchase by the full glass and by the bottle. We are even adding some great beers for purchase.
Jazz
The Jim Ballard Jazz Quartet will make music all afternoon for your listening and dancing pleasure. Ballard has performed with the Ink Spots, locally at Middleton’s Tavern, and was even featured during the Obama Inaugural. Ballard does the vocals; his group includes saxophone, bass, piano, and drums. Contact Marc Apter, marca1030@gmail.com, with song requests.
Fundraiser Auction
The community will have our first ever live and silent auction to raise money for this party and for other social events like the Summer Picnic and the December Holiday Party -- see below.
What to Bring
Every family is asked to bring a dish to be shared, based on the first letter of its last name. Neighbors with names starting with A through F: please bring hors d’oeuvres. Names from G through M: a main course. Names from N through S: bring dessert. Folks whose last names start with T through Z should bring bottled water, soda, and/or other non alcoholic drinks. Each family will be charged $10 to defray the costs, including tent rentals, ice, glasses, plates, and a porta-potty for the event.
The Property Owners Association will provide some seating but you are encouraged to bring your own folding chairs. We will have tents for shade and protection from showers. There is no rain day planned. The party goes on rain or shine.
RSVP
Please RSVP to marca1030@gmail.com by June18 so we may plan accurately for the size crowd to expect. Most importantly: if you are a party person and would like to help plan games like dance contests, volley ball tournaments with teams based on the street you live on, or water balloon toss with real prizes for the winning teams, contact Marc Apter, Social Committee Chair, 301-904-3690 or marca1030@gmail.com.
The wine and Jazz party is an adults only event. The community will also have a family picnic later in the summer on the beach -- Saturday, August 25, from 3 to 7 pm.. Put both events on your calendar.
